Encourage

admin | October 26, 2009

What does it mean to encourage someone?  Most people would describe encouraging someone as telling someone something nice or kind.  Dictionary.com defines it like this:  “to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence.”  I have also heard it defined as:  “to give courage!”  Well then what does courage mean?  Again Dictionary.com defines it as:  “the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain without fear.”  WOW!  When we encourage someone we are helping them to face difficulties and pain without fear.  When was the last time you encouraged someone?  Go check out Joshua 1:1-9, verse 9 is our STAR Verse.  Copy it down and bring it on Sunday for a very special prize!

“COLD”

admin | October 19, 2009

This morning when my alarm clock went off, I heard the DJ on the radio say that it was 31 degrees this morning.  OW!  That is chilly for the middle of October.  I wanted to stay underneath my blankets, but instead I got up got going.  After getting up and walking into my room, my son jokingly said that he didn’t want to go to school today because he was cold and wanted to stay in bed.  I know the feeling!  Sometimes we think that the most important thing in our world is what can satisfy our latest desire.  This morning it was wanting to be warm, this afternoon it could be my hunger, tonight it could be something completely different.  But the issue still remains…it is about me and my desires.  That is where we get it wrong, we assume the world revolves around us.  But the real truth is that if we have faith in Christ, then our world should revolve around Him, not us.  Does your world revolve around Jesus?  Go read Philippians 3:13-14 – these two verses are the STAR Verses for this Sunday.  Write them down and bring them on Sunday for a special prize.

TEN-HUT!

admin | October 14, 2009

This Sunday we will launch a new series called, “TEN-HUT!”  In this series we are going to take a look at the life of Joshua.  Joshua was a great military leader who took over for Moses and led the nation of Israel into the promised land.  The book of Joshua is one of my favorites, but by far one of my favorite verses out of this book is found in Joshua 24:15.  This is the STAR Verse – go copy it down and bring it back on Sunday!
