Would you trust God more if He gave you more?

“I dare you!” No doubt, that’s the beginning of trouble.  And how right it’s turned out to be.  At the beginning of the week, I accepted a challenge of trust with God.  His Word says that when we honor Him with what He gives us, then He’s ready to pour out more on us.  But, as soon as I accepted that challenge, it seemed to get harder and harder to trust Him.

I was reminded today of a couple of questions that I asked Sunday.

  • Would you trust God more if He gave you more?
  • Would you delight in Him more if He gave you more?

I don’t know why but it seems that the more God blesses us, the more apt we are to forget Him or become dissatisfied with the stuff we have.  I guess it’s the selfish sinful nature we have.  But God’s challenge is not to prove that we can’t handle more.  (His focus is always about our spirits rather than our stuff)  He really wants us to come away from His challenge trusting more and delighting in Him more.

Tests or challenges come our way not so God can say, “I told you so!”  He’s not smirking at us, and saying, “I knew you’d never get this right!” Rather, he roots for us to come through the things that test us with victory and increasing trust.

This weekend I’ll be talking more about God’s perspective on tests, trials and temptations.  As it may seem harder and harder this week to trust God in His challenge, He is our biggest fan, eternally believing that with His help we can overcome them all.

Keep trusting!  And I’ll see you Sunday.
